San Antonio, TX – The San Jose Barracuda (18-14-5-3, 44pts) presented by Barracuda Networks dropped their season high 6th straight game (0-4-2-0) with a close 2-1 loss to the host San Antonio Rampage (19-19-7-0, 45pts) in front of 6,661 fans at the AT&T Center on Friday evening.

Ryan Carpenter scored for the Barracuda while goaltender Troy Grosenick made 35 saves in net in the loss.  Dennis Everberg scored two first period goals and netminder Roman Will made 29 saves in net for the win.  The two teams combined to go 0-11 on the power play as San Jose is now 0-2-0-0 on their five game road trip.

Rookie Patrick McNally picked up his first professional point as he sent a wrist shot from the left wall which was deflected in front by Ryan Carpenter (8th) past goaltender Roman Will at 8:59 of the first period to give San Jose a 1-0 lead.  Dennis Everberg (12th and 13th) scored twice in a 3:05 span beginning at 15:18 to give the Rampage a 2-1 advantage through 20 minutes of play.  Shots were 15-10 San Antonio.

In the second period, the Rampage had five power play chances, had a goal waved off, fired another 15 shots on goal but somehow the score remained 2-1 San Antonio through 40 minutes of play.

San Jose had four power plays in the third period with John McCarthy having the best chance as he hit the post with eight minutes remaining.  Roman Will made 11 more saves which included denying Jeremy Langlois on a shorthanded breakaway with five minutes left as San Antonio held on for the 2-1 home victory.

Frazer McLaren (inj), Micheal Haley, and Mark Cundari did not dress for the Barracuda…Raffi Torres was recalled from his conditioning assignment on Thursday after appearing in three games for the Barracuda….Micheal Haley returned to San Jose to attend a personal matter and was not in the lineup…. forward Nikita Jevpalovs was assigned to the Allen Americans (ECHL) on Jan 28…the Barracuda are in a stretch where they play 9 of 11 on the road… San Jose is now 0-2-0-0 on their five game road trip….rookie Alex Gallant picked up his team leading 9th fighting major in the first period in a bout against Duncan Siemens… Patrick McNally picked up his first pro point in his 20th game…Barclay Goodrow added an assist in the loss...San Jose has scored just six goals in their last eight games….head coach Roy Sommer remains at 635 wins.
