SHARKS RECALL JEFFREY VIEL FROM THE BARRACUDA
Mar 25, 2021SAN JOSE, CA (March 25, 2021) - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled forward Jeffrey Viel (@jeffviel_27) from the San Jose Barracuda (@sjbarracuda), the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Viel, 24, has recorded two goals, two assists, and 31 penalty minutes in 17 AHL games with the Barracuda. He leads all Barracuda skaters in penalty minutes and ranks second on the team in shots on goal (34).
In 139 career AHL games, all with San Jose, Viel has collected 26 goals, 30 assists, and 228 penalty minutes. He ranked tied for fourth on the Barracuda in points in 2019-20.
A captain each of his last two seasons in junior, the 6-foot-1, 202-pound native of Rimouski, Quebec, Canada, skated in 259 QMJHL games over a four-year span with Acadie-Bathurst and the Sherbrooke Phoenix. During the four seasons, he totaled 196 points (115 goals, 81 assists), 499 penalty minutes, and a plus-12 rating.
He was signed as an undrafted free agent by San Jose (NHL) on May 29, 2019.
