WIESBLATT’S HAT TRICK LEADS WAY IN WIN OVER GULLS

San Diego, CA - The San Jose Barracuda (29-33-15) got a hat trick from Ozzy Wiesblatt and a pair of goals from Danil Gushchin en route to a 6-3 win over the San Diego Gulls (20-45-2-1) on Wednesday night at the Pechanga Arena.

In the opening 20, the Gulls found a way to score first as Chase Priskie (10) fired a shot off the post and in from the right point at 4:42. The Barracuda would finish the period by outshooting the Gulls 12-4 and would tie the score at 14:16 when Artemi Kniazev backhanded a rebound past Gage Alexander.

In the second, at 5:31, Guschin (18) would beat Alexander with a stick-side shot from the left wing. Then, at 12:27, Wiesblatt (4) would rip in the Barracuda’s third goal, before Gushchin would score his second of the game from just inside the blue line at 13:26. Less than a minute later, Bo Groulx (17) would snap in his own rebound to make it 4-2. Later in the period, Wiesblatt would draw a penalty on a breakaway and score on the ensuing penalty shot at 17:41.

In the third, Wiesblatt would poke the puck through Alexander from atop the crease to complete the hat trick at 7:23.

Aaron Dell (15-16-3) picked up the win, making 17 saves, while Alexander (5-6-3) suffered the loss, allowing six on 41.
