BARRACUDA FALL TO EAGLES IN HOME FINALE, 4-0

Apr 8, 2023

The San Jose Barracuda (29-34-2-5) were defeated by the Colorado Eagles (38-22-7-3) 4-0 at Tech CU Arena on Saturday night.

The Eagles scored first late in the first period at 15:28 after Mitchell Vande Sompel (5) walked freely in the Barracida’s zone and zipped the puck through Aaron Dell.

Vande Sompel notched his second of the game after making a beautiful for-hand-back-hand move to extend Colorado’s lead 2-0 in the second period. Despite outshooting Colorado 19-6 and having two power-plays in period number two, the Barracuda still found themselves scoreless heading into the third.

San Jose failed to hit the scoreboard in the final period while also allowing two empty net goals to Charles Hudon (27) and Sampo Ranta (11) resulting in a 4-0 loss to close out its final regular season game at Tech CU Arena.

Vande Sompel (2+0=2) finished the night with two points for the second-straight game. Justus Annunen (21-10-8) stopped all 33 shots he faced for his first shutout on the season. Dell (15-17-4) made 24 saves against 26 shots in the loss.
