Barracuda in the Community: May

Jun 3, 2016

The offseason is well under way, and even though there is still plenty of hockey being played in San Jose, the Barracuda have been just as busy around the city. As the Barracuda staff works hard to prepare things  for the 16-17 season, our involvement in the community also grows with each  day. The month of May has been fun for Frenzy, let’s take a look back at it!

Frenzy has already made a few stops at Relay for Life  events, but over the past few weeks he has been to even more! With stops at  Willow Glen, Morgan Hill, Redwood City, Stanford and Blossom Hill he is really  making the rounds throughout the Bay Area. Each Relay event was unique in their  own way, but the Blossom Hill Relay was one of Frenzy’s favorites because of  the fun games they had for him to play!

The school year is wrapping up but before it ends, we have  to acknowledge the last school visit of the inaugural season. Frenzy made a  trip to Vinci Park Elementary in San Jose to teach some third graders about the  game of hockey. Barracuda Math Class ended on a high note and we are already working on making the program bigger and better for next season.

It wasn’t just Barracuda Math Class that brought Frenzy to  schools last month as El Roble in Gilroy and Valle Vista in San Jose both had  events for Frenzy to attend. At El Roble, Frenzy helped cheer on students as  they took part in the school’s annual walk-a-thon and at Valle Vista, Frenzy was a special guest at the school’s spring carnival. At the carnival, Frenzy  took part in a cake walk and played a number of carnival games with the kids.

May marked the beginning of the Farmer’s Market in downtown  San Jose and Frenzy made his first visit of the summer 2 weeks ago. He was  there checking out all of the local vendors, handing out Barracuda goodies and  testing some of the free samples that were being handed out at different  booths. Frenzy will be making stops at the Farmer’s market at least once a  month this summer so make sure you head down during lunchtime  on Fridays to say hello!

Another great event that Frenzy took part in last month was  the Bowling for Badges event put together by the San Jose Police Foundation. The event took place at Bolwmor in San Jose and it welcomed a number of  participants who could come and bowl to support the foundation. Ryan Carpenter, Mirco Mueller and Nikolay Goldobin also attended the event to bowl with the  attendees. One lucky bowler even got to go home with an authentic Barracuda  jersey through the event’s silent auction.

There were a number of other events that Frenzy and the San Jose Barracuda attended during the month of May including the Summer Resource  Fair, Silicon Valley Bikes Festival, Armed Forces Day and many more. Summer  time is when Frenzy is at his best so make sure you follow him on social media @FrenzyAHL to find out where he is headed and where he has been.

Frenzy is always looking for more things to do and places to  go! If you want to have the hardest working fish in the AHL at your event, head  to Frenzy's Page and fill out an appearance request form!
