BARRACUDA SNAP SKIP, BEAT CONDORS 5-3

San Jose, CA – The San Jose Barracuda (12-20-7-0, 31 pts.) returned to Tech CU Arena on Wednesday night and snapped their nine-game skid by upending the Bakersfield Condors (18-12-1-2, 39 pts.), 5-3.

 

In the victory, seven different San Jose players finished with multiple points including Danil Gushchin who extended his point streak to six (2+6=8) and now leads the team with 14 goals, 23 assists, and 37 points.

 

After giving up a pair of goals in the first, the Barracuda would go on a five-on-three power play in the second, and while on the two-man-advantage, Cole Cassels (5) managed to poke in a loose puck that had bounced off the post to make it 2-1. 59 seconds later, Gushchin (14) ripped in the tying goal on the short side. At 10:14, Scott Sabourin (10) swiped in a rebound from in tight to give the Barracuda their first lead.

 

In the third, up 3-2, Oskar Lindblom (5) drove the net and potted his fourth goal in his last five games, giving the Cuda a two-goal advantage. After Matvey Petrov (4) had cut the lead down to one at 15:18, Jack Studnicka (3) sealed the win with an empty netter at 19:20.

 

Eetu Makiniemi (5-6-0), who allowed a pair of goals on 12 shots in the first, would turn aside 25 of the next 26 he saw to pick up his fifth win of the year. The Barracuda finished the game going two-for-two on the power play and three-for-three on the penalty kill.
