Colorado Connection: On Sunday, the Barracuda close out its five-game road trip in Colorado with the second of back-to-back games against the Colorado Eagles (Colorado Avalanche). The Barracuda are 0-1-2-0 against the Eagles this season after falling 6-5 in overtime on Saturday. The Barracuda have dropped a season-long eight games (0-5-3-0) and five in a row on the road (0-3-3-0).

 

Gray Saturday: The Barracuda held multiple leads on Saturday night at the Blue Arena but ultimately would fall 6-5 in overtime to the Eagles. Despite the defeat, Valteri Pulli scored twice, and Nikolai Knyzhov (0+2=2), Radim Simek (0+2=2), Tristen Robins (1+1=2), and Danil Gushchin (1+1=2) all recorded multiple points. The Barracuda finished the game going just two-for-four on the penalty kill and zero-for-four on the power play.

 

House of Horrors: Dating back to the 2021-22 campaign, the Cuda have dropped seven consecutive outings at Blue Arena, getting outscored 29-16. Prior to the skid, San Jose had won three in a row in Loveland. Lifetime the Cuda are 6-12-2-0 on the road against the Eagles.

 

OT Woes: After Saturday’s overtime loss, the Barracuda have now dropped a league-high seven games in the extra session this year and remain one of just two teams in the league to have not picked up an OT win this season. The seven losses are the second most in a single season in franchise history.

 

A Star is Born: Danil Gushchin, who extended his point streak to four games on Saturday (1+4=5), was named the Barracuda’s representative for the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Tech CU earlier this month. The two-day event will be held at Tech CU Arena in San Jose on Feb. 4-5, 2024. The second-year pro is first on the Barracuda in points (34), goals (13), assists (21), and shots (133). Gushchin joins Thomas Bordeleau, Joachim Blichfeld, Jake Middleton, Francis Perron, Josef Korenar, Barclay Goodrow, Ryan Carpenter, Troy Grosenick, Danny O’Regan, Antoine Bibeau, and Rudolfs Balcers as players to represent the Barracuda at the AHL All-Star Classic.
