
FOUR-GOAL THIRD LEADS CUDA PAST KNIGHTS
Jan 31, 2025San Jose, CA – The San Jose Barracuda (23-13-2-2) matched a season-high with four third-period goals, running past the Henderson Silver Knights (14-27-2-0) on Friday night at Tech CU Arena.
In the win, Shakir Mukhamadullin finished with a game-high three assists, and Collin Graf (3+8=11) and Andrew Poturalski (3+6=9) extended their point streaks to six and five games respectively. Luca Cagnoni also sniped in his 11th goal of the year and seventh on the power play.
The Barracuda recorded the game’s first five shots. On their fifth, Danil Gushchin (9) snapped in a one-timer from the right wing to open the scoring at 2:56. The Silver Knights would later answer as Mason Morelli (8) ripped in a glove-side shot at 10:46 after a Barracuda turnover at the offensive blue line. On their next shot, at 12:20, Henderson would take its first lead when Jake Bischoff (3) went upstairs from the right point on a screened Vitek Vanecek.
In the second, the Barracuda leveled the score as Mukhamadullin sent Tristen Robins (6) on a breakaway, and Robins went backhand-to-forehand to tie it up. The Barracuda would finish the period by outshooting the Knights 15-8.
Tied going into the third, the Barracuda would take the game over. At 10:43, on the power play, Cagnoni (11) walked around a Knight, skated to the left dot, and beat Akira Schmid over the glove. A minute and 18 seconds later, Anthony Vincent (7) tipped in a point shot to make it 4-2. Graf (8) extended the lead to 5-2 with an empty-netter before Lucas Carlsson (8) completed the four-goal frame at 18:53 when Schmid had returned.
