Tonight:
The San Jose Barracuda and the Stockton Heat (AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames) meet for the 6th of 12 meetings this season, the 4th of six meetings at the SAP Center.  The Barracuda are 4-0-0-1 vs. the Heat this season and are 4-0-0-1 in five career matchups. San Jose has won a season high three straight games, hold a playoff position with the 3rd spot in the Pacific, and are now 11-4-2-2 in their last 19 games overall.  The Heat ride a three game winning streak into tonight’s game and currently sit in 7th place in the Pacific Division. Former SJ Sharks forward Freddie Hamilton is 2nd on the Heat lead with 17 points (8-9-17) in 28 games this season.

In case you missed it…
The San Jose Barracuda (14-10-2-3, 33pts) presented by Barracuda Networks won their third straight game with a commanding 5-1 victory over the visiting Texas Stars (17-14-2-3, 39pts) in front of 3,425 fans at the SAP Center on Sunday afternoon.  With the win, San Jose moved into sole possession of third place in the Pacific Division.  Goaltender Alex Stalock (1-0-0) made his first AHL start since April 20, 2013 and made 21 saves for the Barracuda in the win.  Nikolay Goldobin (3-1-4), Jeremy Langlois (1-0-1), and Ryan Carpenter (1-0-1) scored for the Barracuda with Gus Young (0-3-3), Chris Tierney (0-2-2), Barclay Goodrow (0-1-1), and Trevor Parkes (0-1-1) adding assists.  Goaltender Philippe Desrosiers (0-1-0) made 19 saves for the Stars in his AHL debut with Jason Dickinson (1-0-1) scoring their lone goal. 

The Heat tied a season high with their 3rd straight win with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Bakersfield Condors on Sunday afternoon.  Derek Grant scored twice, Kenny Agostino also scored and Joni Ortio made 29 saves in net for the win.

Barracuda Bites…
*Recent transactions… Forward Scott Timmins was signed to a standard player contract for the remainder of the season while Matt Tennyson was loaned to the Barracuda on a conditioning assignment on Dec 30 and played three games for the Barracuda before getting a recall back to the Sharks on Jan 3. (the Barracuda went 3-0-0 with Tennyson in the lineup).  Alex Stalock was loaned to the Barracuda on a conditioning assignment on Jan 2 and made 21 saves in his first AHL start since Apr 20, 2013 in a 5-1 Barracuda win on Jan 3.  Chris Tierney was loaned to the Barracuda on Jan 2 and recorded two assists for the Barracuda on Jan 3 in his first AHL game this season.  Goaltender Troy Grosenick was recalled by the Sharks on Jan 2 and defenseman Mark Cundari returned from Switzerland on Jan 3 after he captured the Spengler Cup with Team Canada. Defenseman Rick Pinkston was recalled from Allen (ECHL) and played one game for the Barracuda before he was returned to Allen on Dec 31 while forward Jesse Mychan (Colorado Eagles – ECHL) signed a PTO with the Barracuda on Jan 1 and has played two scoreless games for San Jose before getting released on Jan 5.
