Gull Setting: The Barracuda wrap up their road trip on Sunday in San Diego as they face the San Diego Gulls for the fifth time this season. San Jose is 2-1-0-1 versus the Ducks affiliate and 1-1 at the Pechanga Arena, picking up a 4-3 overtime win in the most recent meeting on New Year’s Day.

 

Saturday Shine: The Barracuda never trailed on Saturday night at the Mechanics Arena Bank in Bakersfield, but it would take a third-period goal from Andrew Poturalski to finally put the Condors away, 4-3. With the win, the Barracuda snapped a five-game road losing skid and improved to 2-2-1-0 against the Oilers’ affiliate this season.

     

Hot Pot: In his AHL return on Saturday, Andrew Poturalski recorded a goal and an assist, his 14th point game this season. The veteran forward is pacing the AHL in points (47), T-fourth in assists (28), and power-play goals (8, and T-seventh in goals (19). Before being assigned to the Barracuda earlier this week, the 31-year-old skated in three games with the Sharks, notching an assist in the final game before the 4 Nations Faceoff break.

 

Trending Graf: Collin Graf returned to the Barracuda on Saturday, notching an assist, and now has points in seven and eight (3+5=8). Among AHL freshmen, the 22-year-old is T-third in assists (23) and seventh in points (31). Additionally, he is T-second in power-play assists (10). In addition to his 34 AHL games, he has also appeared in 13 contests with the Sharks, scoring his first NHL goal on Feb. 4 (vs. Montreal).

 

Pick of the Litter: Rem Pitlick made his Barracuda debut on Saturday, collecting an assist on Andrew Poturalski’s game-winning goal. During his five-year pro career, the native of Ottawa, Ontario, has dressed in 132 games in the NHL with the Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens, and Blackhawks, collecting 54 points (21 goals, 33 assists), and 54 penalty minutes. Additionally, he has skated in 149 AHL games with the Milwaukee Admirals, Chicago Wolves, Laval Rocket, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Rockford, and San Jose, posting 126 points (55 goals, 71 assists), 90 penalty minutes, and a plus-25 rating. The 27-year-old was part of the multi-player, three-way trade between the Sharks, Pens, and Habs that included Erik Karlsson. In that deal, he was sent from the Canadiens to the Penguins.

 

Luca Lightning: 20-year-old Luca Cagnoni extended his points streak to five games (1+6=7) with a goal and an assist on Saturday. The blueliner now leads the league in power-play points (23), second in power-play assists (16), and T-fourth in power-play goals (8). Among league rearguards, he is second in goals (12), and T-third in points (34).
