Home Sweet Home: After a 6-3 win in San Diego against the Gulls on Wednesday to finish up its four-game road trip, the Barracuda return to Tech CU Arena on Friday and Saturday to faceoff with the Colorado Eagles in the team’s final two home regular season games. Since winning the first meeting, 2-1, in overtime on Nov. 12, the Barracuda have dropped five in a row versus the Avs top affiliate, getting outscored 23-8. The Barracuda are 6-5-2-1 all-time at home against Colorado and 1-1 this season.

 

Wednesday Roundup: The Barracuda finished its four-game road trip with a 6-3 win over the Gulls on Wednesday as Ozzy Wiesblatt netted his first pro hat trick, and Danil Gushchin also scored a pair. The Barracuda finished the roadie with points in three of four games (2-1-0-1), while Aaron Dell made 15 saves in the victory, and Gage Alexander allowed six on 41. Wiesblatt’s second goal was part of a four goal second period for the Barracuda and was just the org's third penalty shot goal in franchise history. Shakir Mukhamadullin collected a career-best four assists becoming just the second player in franchise history to record four helpers in a game and the first since Robbie Russo did it on 4/30/21 vs. Henderson (7-5 W).

 

March Meetings: In the last two matchups against the Eagles, the Barracuda were dealt a pair of losses at the Budweiser Events Center on Mar. 21 (0-8 L) and Mar. 22 (2-3 L). In the two games, Ben Meyers led the way with six assists, while Charles Hudon collected three goals and an apple, and David Farrance also picked up a goal and four assists. The 8-0 loss on Mar. 21 was the Barracuda’s largest margin of defeat this season.

  

Cuda Chronicles: The Barracuda enter Friday four points behind the Tucson Roadrunners for the final playoff spot in the Pacific Division. SJ has two more home games left on its schedule and four total. The Barracuda will face Tucson in its last two games on April 14, 15 at the Tucson Convention Center. Since Feb. 11, the Barracuda have averaged 3.5 goals for per game over its last 22 outings. On the season, San Jose is 28th in goals-for (2.85) and 27th in goals-against (3.47).

 

Eagles Scouts: The Eagles, who have been on the road since Mar. 29, wrap up its six-game trip in San Jose this weekend. Colorado is coming off a 3-0 loss at Bakersfield on Wednesday but still hold a one-point edge on the Abbotsford Canucks for the third playoff spot in the Pacific Division. If the season were to end today, the Colorado would host Ontario in round one. Prior to Wednesday’s loss, the Eagles had gone 6-1-3-0 in its last 10. Eagles forward Charles Hudon leads the league in power-play goals (17) having scored in each game he has played the Barracuda this year (five total goals), including four while on the PP. Former Barracuda d-man Keaton Middleton is second in the league in majors (9) and first among defenders in penalty minutes (119). The Eagles are 27th in the AHL in goals-for (2.87) and third in goals-against (2.68).
