Sharks Re-Sign Goaltender Troy Grosenick

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the team has re-signed restricted free agent goaltender Troy Grosenick (@TGrose1) to a two-year contract.

During the 2014-15 season, Grosenick spent the majority of his time with the Worcester Sharks, posting a 20-13-3 record, with a 2.63 goals-against-average, a .906 save percentage, and one shutout in 36 games played, helping lead Worcester to its first playoff appearance in five seasons. Grosenick finished the Calder Cup Playoffs with a 1-0 record, along with a 3.41 goals-against average and a .866 save percentage in two contests. In addition to his AHL action in 2014-15, Grosenick also appeared in two games at the NHL level with San Jose, turning in a 1-1-0 record with a 1.53 goals-against-average, .948 save percentage, and one shutout.

The 25-year-old made his NHL debut on Nov. 16, 2014 against the Carolina Hurricanes, turning aside all 45 shots he faced to secure his first career NHL win and shutout. In addition to setting a record for the most saves by an NHL goaltender in a debut shutout (since the 1979-80 expansion season), Grosenick became the first goalie in franchise history to register a shutout in his NHL debut.

Prior to turning pro, Grosenick played three seasons with Union College of the ECAC. In 71 games he posted a 39-16-9 record, 1.89 goals-against-average, .930 save-percentage, and seven shutouts. In addition, during his career with Union he earned several top honors including being named a First-Team AHCA All-American (2012), the Ken Dryden Award as ECAC's Hockey Goaltender of the Year (2012), and was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award (2012).

The six-foot-one, 185-pound native of Brookfield, Wisconsin, was originally signed by San Jose as a free agent on April 8, 2013.
