Barracuda Streak Ends At Four Games After 3-1 Loss In Charlotte
Nov 24, 2015CHARLOTTE, NC –The San Jose Barracuda (5-7-0-3, 13pts) presented by Barracuda Networks fell by the score of 3-1 to the host Charlotte Checkers (9-8-0-0, 18pts) in front 3,719 fans at the Bojangles’ Coliseum on Tuesday evening. The Barracuda wrap up their season long seven game road trip at the Checkers on Wednesday evening at 4pm (pacific time).
Charlotte scored three goals in the final six minutes of the first period as Jeremy Langlois scored the only San Jose goal with 14 seconds left in the third period in the 3-1 loss. Aaron Dell made 16 saves in net as the Barracuda had their four game point streak (2-0-0-2) come to an end with the regulation loss. The Barracuda are now 2-2-0-2 on their season long seven game road trip.
The Barracuda had some good energy to start the game but were unable to convert on a pair of power play chances. Charlotte would then connect for three goals in the final 5:34 of the opening frame. Brock McGinn (3rd) scored a power play goal at 14:26 and Zach Boychuk (1st) connected from down low on a 5-on-3 power play try past goaltender Aaron Dell at 18:18. Brock McGinn (4th) deflected a Jake Chelios point shot into the net at 18:55 to give Charlotte a 3-0 advantage. Shots were 9-7 in favor of the Checkers.
San Jose outshot Charlotte 16-5 in the second period but the Barracuda could not figure out rookie netminder Rasmus Tirronen as neither team found the back of the net in a scoreless middle frame. The Barracuda trailed 3-0 through 40 minutes despite holding a 23-14 shot advantage.
Jeremy Langlois scored with just 14 seconds remaining in the third period on the club’s 8th power play of the game but it was too little too late for San Jose. Nikolay Goldobin and Bryan Lerg assisted on the only goal as goaltender Rasmus Tirronen made 28 saves for the victory.
The Barracuda fall to 5-7-0-3 overall with a 4-3-0-2 record on the road.

Forward Nikolay Goldobin was loaned to the Barracuda on Sunday and was in the lineup for San Jose…Patrick McNally was on the blue line after being a healthy scratch the last four games….the eight power plays were a season high for the Barracuda.
